Three Rivers:Essay By Brad Hill
A story of three different experiences woven together by three rivers, Brad shares this episode about how his time on these rivers serves as a reminder of the goodness he has experienced. We all need to practice remembrance for when tough times set in; these experiences of goodness serve as a monument to help us remember, “It won’t always be this hard.”
The story tells a small portion of his experience attending Hutchmoot, a conference hosted by the good folks of the Rabbit Room, where he sat next to the Harpeth River in fellowship with new and old friends.
The story then journeys to Montana, where he officiated a wedding for a young couple from his church on the banks of the Middle Fork of the Flathead River right next to the Old Belton Bridge on the edge of Glacier National Park. Autumn colors were in full swing, and a crispness in the air told us winter was very nearly there.
Usually, he is asked to sing at weddings, but this was exceptional, and a moment he will cherish forever.
The story ends with how he was fortunate to fly fish on the Flathead river the next day—meeting up with Avery, one of the guides from Big Fork anglers, for a half-day float. The half-day seemed to last a bit longer and was so packed with fish it felt like a full day of fishing. Any fly fisherman hopes to fly fish in Montana one day, and the expectations are very high; my time with Avery and Big Fork Anglers met and exceeded expectations. It was all I had hoped for in a fishing trip. If you are in or around Kalispell, Montana, and want an excellent experience fly fishing, check out the link before and contact Big Fork Anglers.
