Jimbo Meador: Meditating and Marinating on Fishing Stories, Close Calls, & Jimmy Buffett
This is our 100th episode! And we could not think of anyone better than Jimbo Meador, Alabama fly fishing legend and outdoorsman to be our guest for this special occasion. Jimbo was on our show once before, but if you know Jimbo, there’s always more stories to tell.
We were so honored to be able to sit down once again in his home office and listen to the guide stories of flyfishing, close calls on the water, and his longtime friend, the late Jimmy Buffett. We know you will enjoy these stories that are downright laugh out loud funny. Jimbo is an absolute treasure to the state of Alabama and the overall sport of fly fishing, and we are thankful that we call him friend.

One of the things Jimbo shared with us off camera walking around his back yard by the Mobile Bay was this idea of “Wabi Sabi.” “ In traditional Japanese aesthetics, wabi-sabi (侘寂) is a world view centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of appreciating beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete" in nature.” This philosophy seems to capture Jimbo in more ways than one. He recognized his own imperfections and yet found beauty in them. He was kind enough to share this sticker with us. He tells a story in this episode about him and his dog Dixie paddle boarding out in the bay. This is their outline. This sticker is forever on our podcast travel case and a wonderful reminder of our friend Jimbo. The world would be a better place with more Jimbo Meadors in it.
