Kenneth Padgett & Shay Gregorie: Wolfbane Publishing

Fairy tales do not tell children the dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed.
— G.K. Chesterton

Kenneth is a co-founder of Wolfbane Books and co-author of several books. He is a PhD candidate in Biblical Studies at Trinity College, Bristol (UK). He also holds a Master’s degree in Old Testament from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Rebecca, live in the South Carolina lowcountry with their two young daughters.

Shay is a co-founder of Wolfbane Books and co-author of several books. He holds a Master of Divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and is an ordained pastor in the Anglican Church of North America. He is a native of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina where he lives with his wife, Catherine, and their nine children.

Brad and I met Kenneth and Shay at Hutchmoot this past fall along the banks of the Harpeth River. I’d seen their beautiful books and they seemed like our people. So we struck up a conversation that led to this episode.

In this episode we talk cover a lot of ground, like how they started WolfBane Publishing, the beginning of their friendship, and much more. We get to hear about the idea behind their books and the series “The Story of God” and how the art and text come together in a stunning book series you will enjoy for a long time. If you are parents these are incredible tools to share with your family.

Shay shares a wild story about a float plane experience he had that had us on the edge of our seats and we learn about flounder gigging. Shay and Kenneth share about life in the “Low Country” of South Carolina and both Bryan and me are ready to head up there to see them and spend some time on the boat. But until then, you won’t want to miss this episode.
