Persistence on the Toccoa River
I was stronger, but this experience with the river made me wiser—even the deadliest monsters can disguise themselves as quiet rivers.
A Runaway Horse And His Boy
As we passed by more than once over the years, I would think, or someone would say, "If that tree could talk, I bet it could tell some stories." In a deep resounding voice it could recount much that had passed beneath it’s boughs , and the story it was about to encounter would be one for the ages.
Uncharted Territory
In this episode of The Storied Outdoors, Dr. Bryan Gill recalls the painful loss of his father and how God used true friends, hiking in Glacier National Park, and fly fishing in Montana to navigate this new Uncharted Territory of life without his dad. Also, there’s a bear story.
Proper Motivation
In this episode of TSO, we hear Brad's story about competing in a 70.3 Ironman Triathlon. Usually, that alone would be an action-packed story, but it doesn't end there. On the same day of the race, Brad boards a plane to New Delhi, India, to take part in mission work through his church hours after crossing the finish line. Reflecting on this series of unusual events, Brad explores a question about what motivates people to do what they do.
Just Over The Rise
In this episode of TSO, we hear a tale of an ordinary adventure on the roads of Toccoa, Georgia. A potentially dangerous encounter with a wild animal on a bike ride and a funny story doing a little investigation into a historical marker.
Shared Experiences
The sun was setting over the marshlands of southern Louisiana as we made our way up the Mississippi after an eventful day of inshore fishing. Our center-console vessel roared past great blue herons stalking their prey in the reeds and shrimp boats drawing their nets from the channel. Ospreys returned to their cypress homes and chirped victoriously with their taloned catch. Water glistened in the rooster tail of our boat hugging the bend as warm air and brackish spray soothed our sunburned grins. The harbor came into sight: The End of the World, Venice, Louisiana.
